Oct 29, 2026CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, announced today that goaltender Brandon Halverson has launched Halvy’s Saves for Recovery, a fundraising initiative benefiting the Cenikor Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping individuals find hope, healing, and a path to lasting recovery.
After losing his brother Justin in January 2023, Halverson wanted to create a meaningful way to give back and support those impacted by substance use disorders. Through the initiative, Halverson will donate $1 for every save he makes during the 2026-27 season to the Cenikor Foundation.

"Recovery is a journey that affects countless individuals and families," said Brandon Halverson."After experiencing that loss firsthand, this initiative gives me an opportunity to honor my brother's memory while supporting people who are working toward recovery. I'm grateful for the chance to partner with Cenikor and the Texas Stars to make a difference in our community."
"We are grateful to Brandon Halverson and the Texas Stars Foundation for supporting individuals and families on the path to recovery," said Bill Baliey, President and CEO of Cenikor Foundation. "Just as Brandon makes saves on the ice, Cenikor helped save more than 16,000 people through our recovery services this past year. Together, we can raise awareness and access to recovery resources. Brandon saves, we save, and everyone wins."
In addition to his personal donation, Halverson is encouraging Texas Stars fans to join the effort by making a contribution to the Cenikor Foundation. Donations made through the campaign will help support Cenikor's mission of providing evidence-based treatment, recovery services, and long-term support for individuals seeking a healthier future.
The Cenikor Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to helping people with substance use disorders and behavioral health challenges through a continuum of care that includes prevention, treatment, recovery support, and housing services.
