Stars Split Preseason Slate in Tucson
Sep 27, 2026TUCSON, Ariz— The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, fell 3-2 to the Tucson Roadrunners in their second and final preseason game on Sunday night at the Tucson Convention Center Arena.
Texas finished the preseason with a 1-1 record after defeating Colorado 4-1 Saturday, highlighted by two goals from Ayrton Martino.
Julian Lutz opened the scoring just under nine minutes into the first as he snapped home a one-timer from the left circle. Lutz’s marker was the only goal of the first frame.
Texas responded on the power play just two minutes into the second period as Emil Hemming fired a pass to the slot which went off a Tucson defender and over the goal line. Martino and Kyle Burroughs were given assists.
The Stars went back on the man advantage 35 seconds after Hemming’s marker. Matthew Seminoff gave the Stars the lead as he fired a wrist shot from the right circle past Jaxson Stauber.
Texas took a penalty four minutes into the final frame, and Caleb Desnoyers found the back of the net from the slot to tie the game 2-2.
Cal Thomas put the Roadrunners back in front with 57 seconds left in regulation on a shot from the left point. Texas pulled Brandon Halverson for an extra skater, but could not find the game-tying marker.
Halverson made 26 saves in the loss, while Jaxson Stauber allowed two goals on 12 shots in the win.
