Texas Faces Houston on Saturday at 7:00 P.M.

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (24-26-2-2, 52 points) defeated the Houston Aeros (25-17-3-9, 62 points) 3-2 in front of 5,654 fans at the Cedar Park Center on Friday night. Texas goalie Tyler Beskorowany (8-13-0) stopped 39 of 41 shots to hold off Houston and give his team the win. Stars’ left wing Francis Wathier scored the game-winning goal early in the third period. Two Texas skaters had multi-point nights. Center Scott Glennie registered a goal and an assist, while right wing Colton Sceviour put up two assists in the win. Center Angelo Esposito also scored for the Stars, who picked up their 11th home win in the last 15 tries. Aeros’ forward Justin Fontaine added two assists in the loss. Defenseman Kris Fredheim and right wing Jon DiSalvatore scored for the Aeros. Houston goalie Darcy Kuemper (6-5-4) stopped 30 of 33 shots as the Aeros fell to 16-10-0-3 on the road. Texas faces Houston again on Saturday, February 25th at 7:00 p.m.

Texas got on the board as center Scott Glennie knocked a shot in at 11:23 of the first period. Right wing Colton Sceviour and defenseman Brad Lukowich set up Glennie’s 12th goal of the season and the 1-0 tally.

The Stars pulled out to a 2-0 lead just 1:05 into the second period. Center Angelo Esposito slipped the puck past Kuemper on the power play. Defenseman Brenden Dillon and center Travis Morin each registered an assist. Houston cut into Texas’ lead, 2-1 at 8:06 with a goal from defenseman Kris Fredheim on the power play. Forward Justin Fontaine and defenseman Chay Genoway each supplied an assist on Fredheim’s first goal of the year.

Texas extended its lead at 4:58 of the final frame as left wing Francis Wathier jammed the puck past Kuemper on the power play. Right wing Colton Sceviour and center Scott Glennie helped on Wathier’s 12th goal of the year and the 3-1 lead. Houston scored on the power play at 12:18. Right wing Jon DiSalvatore put in his 19th goal of the season with assists coming from left wing Kris Foucault and forward Justin Fontaine.

Texas faces off against Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25th. Saturday features the State Farm Family Four Pack, consisting of four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas, starting at $48. The first 2,500 fans to Saturday’s game will also receive a Texas Stars gym bag courtesy of Living Direct. The Stars travel to Abbotsford to take on the Heat on Friday, March 2nd at 9:00 p.m.
