Stars See Two-Goal Lead Slip Away in Chicago
Oct 31, 2026ROSEMONT, Illinois – The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, saw a 3-1 second period lead disappear in a 6-3 loss to the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena on Saturday night.
The Wolves opened the scoring nearly six minutes into the first, as Gabriel Seger found a loose puck at the edge of the Stars crease. However, the early deficit didn’t discourage the Stars; Harrison Scott netted the equalizer less than two minutes later when Emil Hemming centered a pass onto his stick in the crease.
Connor Punnett added his second goal in as many games 1:23 later, when Charlie Paquette skated behind the net and centered a pass to the defenseman in the left circle to put Texas ahead. The tally was the first time Punnett has scored goals in back-to-back contests in his professional career.
Scott added his second goal of the night 7:15 into the middle frame to extend Texas’ lead to 3-1. Matthew Seminoff sent a cross-ice pass to the high slot for Scott, who beat Cayden Primeau under the crossbar. Aleksi Heimosalmi brought Chicago back within striking distance just over halfway into the frame and Seger added his second goal of the night to tie the score at 3-3 with less than two minutes remaining in the period.
Within the first six minutes of the third, Chicago’s Evan Vierling took a two-minute minor penalty for interference to send the Stars to their third power play of the night. While short-handed, Justin Robidas found the back of the net to put the Wolves ahead, 4-3.
Texas pulled goaltender Brandon Halverson with under three minutes left in regulation, and the Wolves punctuated their 5-3 win with an empty-net goal. Following the score, Chicago added one more for good measure with 14 seconds on the clock.
Halverson made 20 saves in the loss, while Primeau stopped 28 of 31 in the win.
Texas will continue its weekend on the road against the Rockford IceHogs on Sunday at the BMO Center, with puck drop slated for 4:00 p.m. Catch all the action on AHL TV on FloHockey.
