Stars Drop First of Two Games in Hershey
Oct 10, 2026HERSHEY, Pennsylvania -- The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, fell short against the Hershey Bears, 2-1, in their first road game of the 2026-27 campaign at GIANT Center.
Despite getting off to a slow start, as neither team took a penalty nor found the back of the net in the opening period, Bears’ forward Grant Cruikshank took a two-minute minor penalty for slashing just 37 seconds into the middle frame, allowing the Stars’ offense an opportunity to gain some momentum.
Though Texas didn’t capitalize on the man-advantage, Ben Gleason collected his first goal of the season 11 seconds after Hershey’s penalty expired as he fired a one-timer from a behind-the-net pass from Matthew Seminoff towards the net, which deflected past Cal Petersen off of Cruikshank.
Less than two minutes later, Hershey’s Leon Muggli potted the equalizer with a shot from the blue line, assisted by Jonny Brodzinski and Andrew Cristall. Though both sides had some quality scoring chances, neither was able to break the 1-1 deadlock before the second period’s end.
It wasn’t until the 13:20 mark of the third period that Bogdan Trineyev, with help from Cristall, netted the go-ahead goal, as he snuck one under the blocker of Brandon Halverson for the 2-1 lead.
Halverson made 19 saves in the loss, while Petersen stopped 24 of 25 in the win.
The two teams meet again on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. CT at GIANT Center. Catch all the action on AHL TV on FloHockey.
