Defenseman Tanner Jago Recalled from Idaho Steelheads

Oct 31, 2019

CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, announced today that defenseman Tanner Jago has been recalled from the team’s ECHL affiliate, the Idaho Steelheads.

Jago, 25, signed his first pro contract with Texas on July 17, 2019, and joined the team during training camp. Since then, the rookie defenseman has played five ECHL games for the Steelheads, recording two points (1-1=2), four PIMS and a +4 rating. His first pro goal capped off a 4-3 come-from-behind win for Idaho on Oct. 26, 2019, against the Allen Americans.

The 6-foot skater hails from Brandon, Manitoba and played four years at Bentley University from 2015 to 2019. He captained his alma mater as a senior and produced 86 points (19-67=86) in 151 career games. Jago ended his collegiate career with the second-most games played in school history and the fifth-most points by a defenseman.

The Texas Stars return home to H-E-B Center at Cedar Park and will face the San Antonio Rampage on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at 7 p.m. to begin a home-and-home series with their in-state rival.
