ADMIRALS BEAT STARS 4-3 IN OT

Texas Hosts Milwaukee Wednesday, February 8th at 7:30 P.M.

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (20-22-2-2, 44 points) were defeated by the Milwaukee Admirals (24-19-1-1, 50 points) 4-3 in overtime in front of 4,231 fans at the Cedar Park Center on Tuesday night.

Admirals’ center Chris Mueller scored the game-winning goal 3:15 into overtime, helping Milwaukee improve to 10-11-0-1 on the road. Right wing Taylor Beck registered a goal and two assists on the night, leading the Admirals to their second win over the Stars this season. Milwaukee goalie Atte Engren (5-5-0) stopped 37 of 40 shots for the win. Right wing Colton Sceviour netted two goals for Texas and center Travis Morin also scored in the one-goal loss.Texas goalie Tyler Beskorowany (6-11-0) stopped 17 of 21 shots, as the Stars fell to 10-8-2-1 at home. The Stars host Milwaukee on Wednesday, February 8th at 7:30 p.m. at the Cedar Park Center.

The Admirals took a1-0 lead at 12:07 of the first period. Right wing Taylor Beck scored from the right circle with an assist from center Mark Van Guilder. Milwaukee struck again as Van Guilder put in a one-timer with 5:10 left in the frame. Van Guilder’s tenth goal of the season was set up by left wing Joel Champagne for the 2-0 tally.

Texas got on the board early in the second period, cutting into the Admirals’ lead, 2-1. Right wing Colton Sceviour snuck a shot past Engren on the power play at 4:24. Left wing Francis Wathier added an assist on Sceviour’s ninth goal of the year. The Stars tied the game 2-2 as center Travis Morin found the back of the net at 8:38. Forwards Matt Fraser and Mike Hedden each provided an assist on the goal, erasing a two-goal defecit.

The Stars jumped out to a 3-2 lead at 5:29 of the third period. Colton Sceviour registered his second goal of the night with a shot from the neutral zone that bounced past Engren. Defenseman Adam Pardy added an assist on the play. The Admirals tied the game 3-3 late in the period with a goal from right wing Ryan Thang. Right wing Taylor Beck and defenseman Scott Valentine helped on the play, forcing overtime.

Milwaukee center Chris Mueller scored the game-winning goal at 3:15 of the extra frame. Taylor Beck put up his second assist of the night for the 4-3 final.

Texas will also host Milwaukee on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday is an H-E-B Night, if fans bring a non-perishable H-E-B food product to the Cedar Park Center box office - they will receive $5.00 off the ticket price. Wednesday is also a Winning Wednesday - if the Stars win, every fan in attendance will receive a free ticket to the March 7th home game. The Stars start a three-game road trip on Friday, February 10th against the Rochester Americans at 6:35 p.m. Texas will then face the Hamilton Bulldogs on Sunday, February 12th at 3:00 p.m. and conclude with a visit to the Lake Erie Monsters on Wednesday, February 15th at 9:45 a.m.
