CEDAR PARK, Texas - Travis Morin saved his best for last as the veteran forward's 10th goal of the season handed the Texas Stars a 3-2 overtime win over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Wednesday night at H-E-B Center.

Morin capped off a breakaway chance 1:44 into the extra frame after Gavin Bayreuther chipped the puck out to center ice on a turnover by the Griffins to record a 60-point season for the fourth time in his AHL career. Mike McKenna stopped 25 shots in net to earn his 16th win of the season after coming down from the NHL earlier in the week.

The Stars (37-24-8-5) close out the regular season with a home-and-home series against the San Antonio Rampage starting Friday on the road at 7:30 p.m. CST.

Denis Gurianov opened up the scoring on a breakaway chance of his own 8:47 into the second, on an assist from Sheldon Dries, for his 17th goal of the season. Less than three minutes later, Greg Rallo added his fifth of the year on a shot from the left-wing boards to make it 2-0 Texas.

The Griffins (40-25-2-7) responded late in the second on two quick goals to knot the score. Dan Renouf buried a wrist shot from the left circle to cut the Texas lead to one, and Brian Lashoff threaded a point shot through traffic with less than five minutes remaining.

Jared Coreau suffered the loss with 26 saves for Grand Rapids.

Both teams were scoreless in their lone power-play chance of the night.
