Stransky Scores his Team-Leading 24th of the Season

MILWAUKEE -- It was a fast start for the Texas Stars after scoring the first two goals in the game, but the Milwaukee Admirals responded with seven straight tallies to take a 7-2 victory on Sunday evening at Panther Arena in front of 7,505 fans in attendance for the season series finale.

Mark McNeill and Matej Stransky each scored for Texas (31-34-1-4). Pontus Aberg, Vladislav Kamenev and Justin Florek each scored a pair of goals for the Admirals (41-23-3-3). The Admirals took three of four games from Texas in the season series.

McNeill opened up the scoring quickly four minutes into the game on a backhand shot from the slot for his ninth of the season. Stransky made it a 2-0 lead for the Stars at 6:18 of the first with a tight-angled shot from the right side for his team-leading 24th of the season. After that, the rest of the night belonged to Milwaukee.

Kamenev pulled the game back to even with a pair of first-period goals at 7:48 and 12:41.

Aberg added a power-play goal for the second straight night just 1:41 into the second to give the Admirals a 3-2 lead. Two minutes later, Justin Kirkland tipped home an Aberg centering pass to make it a two-goal cushion for Milwaukee. Aberg added his second of the night with just six seconds remaining in the period on a shorthanded two-on-one for his 31st of the season.

Florek’s two goals in the game came midway through the third, less than two minutes apart at 9:37 and 11:01.

Marek Mazanec earned the win in net, stopping 21 of 23 shots for the Admirals. Making his first start since Feb. 24, Maxime Lagace stopped 25 of 32 in the loss for the Stars.

Texas was 0-for-6 on the power play. Milwaukee went 2-for-2.
