Stars Host Stars & Stripes Military Appreciation Saturday

Oct 22, 2014

CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, have announced the details for their Stars and Stripes Military Appreciation Night during Saturday’s game against the Oklahoma City Barons at Cedar Park Center at 7:00 p.m.

As part of the Stars’ ongoing support for current and former members of the armed forces, the organization has teamed up with fans and corporate partners to purchase more than 1,500 tickets for the game.  Those tickets purchased will be given to local soldiers, veterans and their families to express appreciation for the service the military provides for the country.

Stars players will be wearing special red, white and blue jerseys during the game, which fans will be able to bid on throughout the evening in a silent auction to benefit the Texas Stars Foundation.  Auction winners will receive the game-worn jerseys off the players’ backs following the game.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early to receive a Stars and Stripes floppy hat giveaway.  It will also be a Texas Lottery Lucky Row night, and Coke Zero Family Four Packs are on sale for the game featuring four tickets, four hot dogs, four soft drinks and parking for as low as $15 per person.

Round Rock Auto Group will be collecting toys outside the east entrance of Cedar Park Center for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program.  Those who donate a new, unwrapped toy will receive two free tickets to the Stars’ Oct. 29 game against Oklahoma City at 7:30 p.m., and be entered into a drawing for prizes including autographed Texas Stars hockey sticks and $100 Shell gas cards.

Other elements of the event include two military vehicles, the Buffalo and the Husky, on display outside the arena for fans to enjoy, courtesy of Fort Hood.  The vehicles are used to detect buried explosives and examine suspected objects from a distance.
