Dallas Stars Sign Travis Morin to Contract ExtensionJan 23, 2015
CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, announced today forward Travis Morin has signed a two-year contract extension with Dallas. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 31-year-old Morin is currently in his sixth season with the Texas Stars. The Brooklyn Park, Minn., native is the franchise career leader in goals (113), assists (213), points (326), and is second in franchise history in games played (375).
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound forward was the Les Cunningham Award winner as the AHL’s Most Valuable Player in 2013-14 with 88 points in 66 games. Later that season, Morin went to also grab MVP honors in the playoffs after leading Texas to the 2014 Calder Cup championship with 23 points in 21 postseason games.
Morin has registered 10 shots and a plus-1 rating in five games for Dallas this season. He has recorded a team-leading 31 points (14 goals, 17 assists) in 30 games for Texas this season.
Morin was originally a ninth-round selection (263rd overall) of the Washington Capitals in 2004.
