Dallas Stars Recall Ritchie and Morin

CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, announced today forwards Brett Ritchie and Travis Morin have been recalled to the NHL by Dallas.  Texas has also recalled forward Jesse Root from their ECHL affiliate, the Idaho Steelheads.

Ritchie, 21, has appeared in 24 games with Texas this season, having recorded 18 points (11 goals, seven assists) and a team-leading +10 plus/minus rating. The forward has earned four points (three goals, one assist) in 10 games with Dallas this season.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound native of Orangeville, Ont. was selected by Dallas in the second round (44th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.

Morin, 31, currently shares ninth in the AHL and leads Texas with 40 points (15 goals, 25 assists) in 39 games this season. He has posted 10 shots and a plus-1 rating in five games for Dallas.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Brooklyn Park, Minn. was originally selected by Washington in the ninth round (263rd overall) of the 2004 NHL Draft, and was signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 2, 2010.

The 25-year-old Root has appeared in 28 games this season for Texas, scoring 11 points on four goals and seven assists.
