CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, announced today that Dallas has assigned forward Travis Morin and goaltender Jussi Rynnas to the club.

Morin, 30, returns for his sixth season in Cedar Park and the reigning Les Cunningham Award winner as the AHL’s Most Valuable Player from last year.  The ninth-round pick of the Washington Capitals in 2004 tallied 88 points (32 goals, 56 assists) in 66 games last season, and was also named the MVP of the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs after adding 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 21 playoff games.  Morin (MOHR-ihn) is one of two original players on the roster who has played in all six seasons of the Texas Stars’ existence (Maxime Fortunus).

Rynnas, 27, joined the Dallas Stars organization over the summer after leading the Finnish Elite League last year with a 1.51 goals against average and a .939 save percentage, to compliment a 28-5-7 record.  Prior to that, Rynnas (YOO-see RIH-nuhs) appeared in 73 AHL games for the Toronto Marlies over a three-year span.

The Texas Stars roster now sits at 36 players as the team prepares for a preseason contest against the Oklahoma City Barons on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

The Texas Stars are set to begin their sixth season as the AHL’s defending Calder Cup Champions on Oct. 11, against the Iowa Wild.  Single-game tickets and season ticket packages for the 2014-15 campaign are on sale now.  For more information, call (512) GO-STARS (467-8277) or visit TexasStarsHockey.com.
