Forward Receives his First Career NHL Call-Up

FRISCO, Texas - Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the team has recalled forward Gemel Smith from the Texas Stars, Dallas' top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Smith, 22, has recorded one goal (1-0=1) with a +2 plus/minus rating and seven shots on goal in three games this season with Texas. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound native of Toronto, Ont. was originally selected by Dallas in the fourth round (104th overall) in the 2012 NHL Draft.

The team also announced today that it has placed forward Patrick Sharp on injured reserve, retroactive to the game on Oct. 20 against Los Angeles. Sharp has tallied one assist (0-1=1) in four games with Dallas in 2016-17.

Weekday home games (Monday-Thursday) are H-E-B night with the Texas Stars where fans can donate a non-perishable item at the box office and save five dollars on their ticket purchase.
