Dallas Recalls Defenseman Esa Lindell

FRISCO, Texas - Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Esa Lindell from the Texas Stars, Dallas' top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). The team has also placed defenseman Jordie Benn on injured reserve, retroactive to the game on Jan. 16 at San Jose.

Lindell, 21, currently leads team defensemen with 25 points (7-18=25) and is tied for first with seven goals in 42 games with Texas in his first full AHL season. Lindell shares fourth on the team with a +9 plus/minus rating and has recorded 77 shots on goal this season. The 6-foot-3, 210 point native of Vantaa, Finland was selected by Dallas in the third round (74th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.

Benn, 28, has recorded nine points (1-8=9) and a +2 rating in 43 games this season. Benn leads Stars defensemen and ranks second among all Stars skaters with 70 hits this season, while he ranks third on the team with 64 blocked shots. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Victoria, B.C. was originally undrafted and signed with Dallas as a free agent on July 1, 2011.
