Stars Continue Season-Long Road Trip Sunday

SAN DIEGO -- Three power play goals by the San Diego Gulls were too much for the Texas Stars to overcome on Friday night in a 6-2 loss at Valley View Casino Center in the final matchup of the season between the two teams in front of 10,216 fans in attendance.

San Diego (29-14-2-2) went 3-for-5 on the man-advantage and held Texas (24-24-1-2) scoreless on five opportunities. Jason Dickinson and Travis Morin each scored for Texas in the loss while San Diego's Chris Wagner scored a pair of goals.

After Morin has knotted the game at 2-2 on a wrist shot from the left circle at 7:27 of the second, Kevin Roy tallied the Gulls' second power-play goal of the night less than two minutes later to turn the tide in the game.

San Diego rattled off three more goals in the game to pull away, including Wagner's empty-net marker for his second of the night. Antoine Laganiere stuffed home a power-play goal with 45 seconds remaining in the second to make it a 4-2 Gulls lead and Nick Sorensen struck at 5:56 of the third on a deflection goal before Wagner sealed it.

Dickinson opened up the scoring from the slot at 7:22 of the first off Julius Honka's centering feed for his eighth of the season. Corey Tropp ripped San Diego's first power-play tally from the left circle on a one-time shot midway through the first, and Wagner tipped a low shot in the slot with 2:33 remaining in the frame for his first of the night and a 2-1 San Diego lead.

Max Lagace suffered the loss stopping 30 of 35 shots. Dustin Tokarski earned the win with 25 saves for the Gulls.
