Stars Make Handful of Roster Moves

CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, announced Friday the team has recalled forward Austin Fyten from their ECHL affiliate, the Idaho Steelheads, and Dallas announced goaltender Mike McKenna and forward Curtis McKenzie has been returned on loan to Texas from the NHL.

McKenzie, 26, has recorded one assist (0-1=1), a +2 plus/minus rating and nine penalty minutes in four games with Dallas this season.  He has also recorded 19 points (10-9=19) in 19 games played for Texas.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of Golden, British Columbia was originally selected by Dallas in the sixth round (159th overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft.

Fyten (FIGH-tehn), 26, appeared in one game for the Stars this season and tallied an assist in five games with Idaho. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward has played 188 AHL games in his career, including 71 for the Stars, with 46 points (15-31=46).

McKenna, 34, has appeared in 13 games with Texas during the 2017-18 season, earning a 6-5-1 record with an .871 save percentage and a 3.53 goals against average.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound native of St. Louis, Mo. was signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 1, 2017. McKenna was originally selected by Nashville in the sixth round (172nd overall) of the 2002 NHL Draft.

Texas has also released forward Tommy Thompson from his professional tryout agreement with the team.
