Stars Call Up Goalie & Left Wing from Idaho Steelheads

CEDAR PARK, TX – The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that Dallas reassigned goalie Tyler Beskorowany to Texas from the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.  Texas also announced that the team has signed left wing Austin Fyten to a professional tryout contract, calling him up from Idaho.

Beskorowany (pronounced behs-kohr-WAH-nee), 22, has appeared in 23 games this season for Idaho, posting a 13-7-3 record with a 2.74 goals-against average, a 0.914 save percentage and one shutout.  The Sudbury, Ontario native returns to Texas for the second time this season and has dressed as the Stars’ backup goaltender for two games.  Beskorowany was drafted by Dallas in the second round (59th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and has played in 51 career AHL games for Texas, with a 17-27-1 record, 3.10 goals-against average, an 0.899 save percentage and two shutouts.

Fyten, 21, attended training camp with Texas this season and joins the Stars looking to make his AHL debut.  The Sundre, Alberta native is in his first professional season and has 40 points (14 goals, 26 assists) and 48 penalty minutes in 43 games for Idaho.  Fyten currently leads the team and is tied for seventh in the ECHL in plus-minus (+17) and led the Steelheads in January with 17 points (6 goals, 11 assists) in 12 games, failing to record a point in only one game the entire month.
