Stars Sign Tommy Thompson to Tryout Agreement

CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, announced Wednesday the team has signed rookie forward Tommy Thompson to a professional tryout agreement.

Thompson, 27, began the 2017-18 season in training camp with the Stars. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound forward has tallied three points (1-2=3) in five games this season with the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads. The Saratoga, N.Y. native has appeared in 74 games professionally, primarily at the ECHL level, but did compete in three games for the AHL’s Hartford WolfPack last season.

Thompson competed for five years at St. Lawrence University (NCAA) prior to his professional career and spent two of those seasons as teammates with current Stars defenseman Gavin Bayreuther.

The Texas Stars are the primary development affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, and currently playing their ninth season at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park. 24-game and 12-game ticket packages for the 2017-18 campaign are on sale now.
