Nov 21, 2014

CEDAR PARK, Texas – Justin Dowling’s second period goal sent more than 1,300 bears on the ice as part of the Texas Stars annual Teddy Bear Toss event, but the offense for the San Antonio Rampage erupted throughout the night in a 7-1 final on Friday at Cedar Park Center in front of 5,754.

Connor Brickley and Garrett Wilson each scored a pair of goals for the Rampage in the win.  Dowling’s goal came at 10:53 of the second from the right circle for his fourth of the season.

The Stars (6-5-4-0) and Rampage (11-6-0-0) meet up again on Sunday at 4 p.m. in San Antonio.

Dan Ellis stopped 25 of 26 shots in the win for the Rampage.  Jack Campbell took the loss for the Stars stopping 28.  Campbell was pulled midway through the third for rookie Maxime Lagace, who made his AHL debut in net.

The Rampage opened up a 1-0 lead at 1:19 of the first on a rebound goal by Brickley for the only goal of the period.

The tide turned for San Antonio in the second when Bobby Butler scored a breakaway goal just 29 seconds in.  Brickley added his second of the night on the power play from the front of the net at 10:22.  Dowling answered for the Stars less than a minute later, but the Rampage came right back with a goal by Alex Petrovic at 15:58 to make it a 4-1 score.
