Stars Fall To Barons 4-3

Texas Takes on Oklahoma City on Saturday, March 17th at 7:00 p.m.

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (27-31-2-2, 58 points) were defeated by the Oklahoma City Barons (38-17-4-4, 84 points) 4-3 in front of 4,734 fans at the Cedar Park Center on Friday night. Right wing Mark Arcobello put up the game-winning goal for the Barons with 5:05 to go in regulation. Barons’ defenseman Bryan Helmer put up a goal and an assist, while center Tyler Pitlick provided two assists. Right wing Ryan Keller and defenseman Taylor Chorney also scored in the Barons’ 21st road win of the year. Oklahoma City goalie Yann Danis (22-11-1) finished with 23 saves, taking the team’s record on the road to 21-8-1-2. Texas defenseman Brenden Dillon registered a goal and an assist, while center Travis Morin added two assists on the night. Forwards Matt Fraser and Mike Hedden also scored for the Stars. Texas goalie Tyler Beskorowany (10-17-0) stopped 32 of 36 shots. Texas takes on the Oklahoma City Barons on Saturday, March 17th at 7:00 p.m. at Cedar Park Center.

The Stars took a 1-0 lead early in the first period. Defenseman Brenden Dillon notched his fifth goal of the year just 1:13 into the game. Center Travis Morin registered an assist on the first goal of the night. Texas jumped out to a 2-0 lead with 6:47 left in the period. Left wing Mike Hedden blasted the puck past Danis on the breakaway. Defenseman Brenden Dillon and left wing Luke Gazdic helped on Hedden’s 11th tally of the season.

The Barons cut into the Stars’ lead at 8:26 of the second period. Right wing Ryan Keller snuck the puck past Beskorowany for the 2-1 tally. Keller went unassisted on the play. Oklahoma City quickly tied the game 2-2 at 12:34 of the period. Defenseman Bryan Helmer scored on the power play with assists coming from left wing Hunter Tremblay and center Tyler Pitlick. Texas pulled out in front, 3-2 as left wing Matt Fraser scored from the right circle with 56 seconds remaining in the second period. Fraser’s 30th goal of the year was set up by center Travis Morin. Fraser became the first Star in team history to hit the 30-goal mark, scoring for the fourth straight game.

Oklahoma City struck again at 3:35 of the third period. Defenseman Taylor Chorney tied the game 3-3. Defenseman Bryan Helmer and right wing Mark Arcobello each added an assist on Chorney’s sixth tally of the year. The Barons took the lead for the first time of the night with 5:05 remaining in the final frame. Right wing Mark Arcobello beat Beskorowany to the back of the net for the 4-3 tally. Center Tyler Pitlick and left wing Magnus Paajarvi set up the play.

The Stars remain home for a 7:00 p.m. faceoff against the Barons on Saturday, March 17th. Saturday features the State Farm Family Four Pack, consisting of four tickets, four sodas, and four hot dogs starting at $48. The first 2,500 fans at Saturday’s game will also receive a Texas Stars t-shirt, presented by CTRMA. On Monday, the Stars conclude a seven-game home stand with Abbotsford at 7:30 P.M. Monday’s game is an H-E-B Night, as fans may bring non-perishable H-E-B products to the box office for a $5.00 discount on their tickets.
